Safety

We have employees trained in all phases of electrical construction including Cat 5 data installations, fiber optics, fire alarms, sound systems, security systems, factory certified in variable frequency drive startups, high voltage installations, PLC controllers, and the number one area, safety.

Since 1999, L & B Electrical Contractors have participated annually in the STEP Safety Award program from Associated Builders and Contractors.

All employees are required to complete the OSHA 10 Hour class and CPR/ First Aid, as well as many other training classes including fall protection, lift training and Lock-Out Tag-Out, to name a few. We feel no job is worth doing if it cannot be done safely.

Environmental Management
L & B Electrical Contractors strives to insure that it does not violate environmental laws or the environmental programs of its customers. This program deals with all aspects of our business and shall include training for each employee as required. The major areas of concern are as listed below.

  1. That all materials we use shall have a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) obtained that lists the hazards related to that substance. Copies of these sheets shall be furnished to all customers prior to starting work on their premises.
  2. That all fuels, oils and chemicals will be stored in approved containers and that all spills shall be cleaned or contained immediately and that the customer shall be notified of the spill immediately so as to review the nature of the clean up.
  3. Lamps, batteries and ballasts shall be recycled according to the State of Maine regulations regarding universal waste or the owner's recommendations whichever is more stringent.
  4. Pre-job assessments shall be done to locate potential environmental hazards and shall be noted such as asbestos, lead, PCP's and mercury. If any environmental hazards are suspected no work shall proceed until the suspected material has been tested and an action plan developed. At all times the customer shall be advised immediately if a hazardous substance is encountered within their facility.
